National Account Manager - Food Service


Etobicoke, ON

Onsite 5 days / week




The Opportunity:


Our client is seeking a naturally competitive candidate who can bring a proven track record and background in sales and account management, as well as strategic thinking and sales plan execution.


The National Account Manager will focus on nurturing existing and growing market share within the Restaurant / Food Service and Hospitality customer channels.


Key Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Build and manage a sales pipeline focused on driving revenue and achieving strong market share.
  • Maintain steady communication with Food Service customers to ensure sales strategies coincide and compliment customer marketing plans.
  • Analyze all promotions in light of promotional funding to maximize return on investment.
  • Maintain high levels of efficiencies in your activities is key to driving multiple initiatives and delivering high quality results.
  • Possess and develop a keenness and quickness in understanding and dealing within business situations in a manner that leads to making good judgments and quick decisions.
  • Being the owner of a process or opportunity to ensure reliance and comfort in the ability to deliver a strong outcome.
  • Exceed or meet sales objectives by developing and executing on your business plan. Continuous adaptation of this plan based on market and organizational conditions is imperative. Utilizing your selling skills and a fact-based approach in building a credible pipeline and opportunities to ensure overachievement is expected.
  • Build and maintain knowledge base of competitors and consumer/customer trends in the marketplace/industry, integrating this information into sales opportunities.
  • Foster strong relationships and maintain regular and frequent contact with customers.
  • Other duties as operationally required, determined and assigned by the Employer


Ideal Qualifications:


  • University Degree or College Diploma
  • 5 years of Food Service Account Management / Category / Sales experience
  • Ideal experience selling proteins and focusing on 'centre of the plate' categories
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi task as well as have a high sense of urgency and strong work ethic.
  • Strong experience working with, negotiating, and selling to large Food Service customers of meat products/perishable/grocery products.
  • Competent & proficient in technology (Microsoft Office, Word & PowerPoint, Internet & CRM sales software).
  • Adherence to health & safety regulations, including the required and appropriate use of personal protective equipment and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
  • Adherence to all company policies which is a continued condition of employment.
  • Travel is required on a regular basis.
  • Food Trade Show attendance when applicable
  • A valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and valid insurance.

  • The successful candidate will be adept at developing deep relationships within the Food Service industry to create strategic partnerships, grow a strong network of key contacts, and establish strong connections.
