Fresh off our Series A funding, we have strong financial backing from some of North America’s most sought after VCs and we’re ready to disrupt the Canadian Mortgage Market in a HUGE way About the role As a Mortgage Underwriter at Pine, you will be responsible for assessing and analyzing mortgage applications to ensure they meet regulatory and policy requirements. You will also be responsible for verifying and validating information and documentation related to mortgage products and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. In addition, you will work closely with clients and partners to gather necessary information and documentation to ensure a smooth and efficient mortgage approval process. What you will be responsible for… Underwriting any mortgage applications submitted through the system on a daily basis while meeting the service level expectation set by Pine. The successful candidate will also perform the necessary collection of documents from clients. The successful candidate will also review all required documents and apply sound due diligence in reviewing and forwarding it to the appropriate partner(s) if needed. Reviewing required underwriting documentation with a strong emphasis on anti-money laundering (AML) requirements, including but not limited to, income, down payment verification. The successful candidate will ensure that documentation adheres to corporate guidelines and is thoroughly verified for accuracy. Working closely with Pine's Head of Underwriters to identify and address inconsistencies when reviewing documentation against mortgage applications. Responsible for escalating any inaccuracies, issues, or items that are incomplete and potentially present risk to Pine. Any documentation issues are to be escalated to the Head of Underwriter for sign off. Communicate with internal contacts (Ops Team and Mortgage Advisors) to ensure transactions are processed in a timely and efficient manner in order to meet deadlines. Monitor changes to deals and update files as required. The successful must send correspondence to the appropriate parties apprising them of changes. The successful candidate must also ensure that Quality Assurance requirements and Compliance review queries are dealt with in a timely and accurate manner. Follow up with the Advisor Team for unsigned commitments and outstanding underwriting documentation through effective pipeline loan management. Meet and maintain strong compliance results for audits requirements. Provide the highest level of internal and external customer service while fielding Advisors inquiries. Ensure all inquiries are effectively and accurately investigated, responded to and resolved to the satisfaction Concise attention to detail and the tenacity to complete the task properly. Work in liaison with the Lead underwriters and Advisor team. We’re excited about you because of your… Completion of a post-secondary degree and/or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role. Knowledge of mortgage default insurers’ lending programs and requirements Strong communication skills, verbal and written. Proven organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus during hectic periods.
