Medical Oncologist/ Hematologist
BC Cancer – Abbotsford Centre
Permanent Full Time: 1.0 FTE

BC Cancer offers a full range of cancer care services. The Abbotsford Centre provides Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Palliative care and support services including Nutrition, Clinical Trials and Patient and Family Counseling. Abbotsford is located 60 km from Vancouver and is one of BC’s fastest growing cities with access to outdoor and cultural activities in the Greater Vancouver area.

We are looking for a medical oncologist or hematologist with expertise in treating lymphoma and myeloma. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative care team committed to excellence and will participate in clinical, research, administrative and educational activities.

Qualifications and licensing

  • Fellowship standing in the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine, with a certificate of Special Competence in Medical Oncology or Hematology and an interest/expertise in lymphoma or myeloma.
  • Eligible for licensing with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia and credentialing by the Professional Advisory Committee of BC Cancer.
  • Eligible for a clinical appointment in the Division of Medical Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia.
  • You must also be eligible for a valid license to practice medicine in Canada to apply.

Responsibilities and expectations

  • Collaborate with a care team to deliver high-quality cancer care and participate in clinical, research, administrative and educational activities.
  • Provide expertise in caring for patients with lymphoma and myeloma as part of the Oncology program at BC Cancer Abbotsford.

Indigenous reconciliation and community responsibilities

  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism reporting (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
