Join our dynamic team of 700 dedicated staff and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of laboratory medicine.DutiesOperating, troubleshooting and maintaining cleanliness of laboratory equipment and work areaPreparing written and electronic reports required to document procedures and test resultsParticipating in teaching, educational, safety and quality improvement programsObserving and understanding Hospital and departmental policies and proceduresCompletion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Technologist program, requiredCurrent registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists (CMLTO), requiredOne (1) year recent laboratory experience in a large hospital Biochemistry Laboratory, preferredDemonstrates ability to develop skill and knowledge in all areas of the laboratory (on-the-job experience)Knowledge of the theory and practice of laboratory procedures, instruments, equipment and special techniques (on-the-job experience), in assigned areaExcellent problem recognition and problem solving-skillsEffective time management skills; ability to organize work and set prioritiesEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work effectively as a team memberAbility to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work accurately under stressful conditionsKnowledge of applicable Hospital and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols and practicesDemonstrated commitment to continuing educationAbility to coach technical staffIn addition to working alongside some of the most talented and inspiring healthcare professionals in the world, UHN offers a wide range of benefits, programs and perks.
