Job Description

The Medical Director of the Dilawri Simulation Centre (DSC) will oversee medical simulation-based training and work collaboratively with the leadership team and stakeholders to provide medical expertise, oversight and opinion where warranted. The Medical Director will advocate and build relationships with foundations and other stakeholders in support of simulation-based training mission and values.

The successful incumbent will work collaboratively with partners to deliver, update and revise the Intro to Sim Course, as well as other simulation-based training projects and initiatives on a provincial scale. The Medical Director will develop strong relationships with SHA leadership and act as an ambassador for simulation-based training in the province.

The Medical Director will act as liaison to the College of Medicine-UGME/PGME and other teaching coordinators who rely on the Dilawri Simulation Centre and/or resources for programming to ensure smooth delivery for Regina-based students. The successful incumbent will also contribute as a member of the College of Medicine Advisory Committee on simulation and develop strong relationships with current and prospective faculty in Regina to inform the strategy for simulation.

Job Qualifications

  • Licensed medical practitioner in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan
  • Canadian Certified Physician Executive Credential would be an asset
  • Advanced education in Health Care Administration, Public Administration and/or Leadership Studies would be an asset
  • Participation in the Canadian Medical Association’s Physician Leadership Institute would be an asset
  • Additional training and/or education in leadership/management would be an asset
  • Experience, at an operational level, as a medical leader who has worked in partnership with administrative leaders to develop and lead innovative planning and programs in a complex, multi- stakeholder environment
  • Has knowledge of and experience in guiding health quality improvement processes and initiatives
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
