Job Description

Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) is a not-for-profit media company that entertains, informs, and empowers Canadians who are blind or partially sighted. Operating three broadcast services, AMI-tv and AMI-audio in English and AMI-télé in French, AMI’s vision is to establish and support a voice for Canadians with disabilities, representing their interests, concerns and values through accessible media, reflection, and portrayal.

We are currently looking for a Media Asset Coordinator to join our Programming team. Based in Toronto, the Media Asset Coordinator supports and maintains the coordination of our systems designed for digital asset management by facilitating the movement of physical and digital media through the production, post-production, broadcast and archive workflows.

Results & Responsibilities

• Contribute to the accomplishment of the media asset strategy by facilitating the movement of physical and digital media through the production, post-production, broadcast and archive workflows, including the coordination and fulfillment of all duplication, transcoding and circulation of assets and understanding various video file codecs.
• Ensure the integrity of AMI’s managed assets through documenting process flows, file-based workflows and content movement and technical specifications for all delivered content.
• Maintain folder structure, space, and asset availability by controlling asset storage volumes.
• Maintain the upkeep of the archive storage platform by coordinating assets for archiving and retrieval from storage.
• Manage technical issues and relevant asset management initiatives by troubleshooting and providing solutions in cooperation with Technical Services Department.
• Support the programming and production teams through liaising with our third party Media Processing and Master Control service on file delivery and technical issues and ensuring broadcast and related files (e.g. closed captioning, described video) are delivered on time and as expected.”
• Train programming, production and operations teams in the compliant and effective use of broadcast and non-linear software applications, workflows and the movement of file bases.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Requirements

• Diploma in Broadcasting or an equivalent mix of education and experience
• 3 years’ industry experience and understanding of broadcast technical standards and content guidelines.
• Expert knowledge of broadcast audio and video file formats, (e.g. codecs, wrappers, frame rates) media transcoding/processing software.
• Experience with asset management systems and file-based workflows a must.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills
• Ability to perform multiple tasks, schedule priorities and meet deadlines.
• Bilingual English/French an asset
