Job Description

Reporting fo the Foreperson, the Mechanical technician will be responsible for maintaining, tuning up, verify inspecting, reparing and adjusting the various systems and components on a variety of heavy-duty vehicules. They will help carry out the company's mission and keeping with its approach, values and objectives.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Review work orders and discuss the work required with service advisors or supervisors.

Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of bus systems, including the chassis, frame, cab, body, engine and powertrain, fuel system, air brakes and hydraulic, electrical and electronic systems.

Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of heavy-duty truck systems, including structural, electrical and brake systems.

Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s performance specifications.

Inspect and test mechanical units, including engines, transmissions, axles and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions.

Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit.

Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicle, and test automotive systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate faults.

Test (check for and detect faults) and adjust units to specifications to ensure proper performance.

Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications and tune ups

Complete reports to record problems and work performed.

Perform pre-delivery inspections (PDI) of new vehicles.

Share ideas for improvement with department personnel

Help meet departmental profit targets

Support the collective efforts of the department and the company as a whole

The incumbent may be required to take on other responsibilities within their skill set as needed or at the request of their immediate supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of vocational program or certificate in diesel mechanics or on-road heavy-duty vehicle mechanics. Certificate 310T

Minimum 3 years of experience in diesel mechanics or on-road heavy-duty vehicle mechanics
