Job Description

Sales Engineer – HVAC/Mechanical Victoria, BC Our client, an innovative national ‘Wholesale Distribution’ leader in the HVAC and mechanical sector. Given their sensational growth, they are looking to bring on a technical, driven, but personable Sales Engineer to support this growth and focus on the Commercial segment within Vancouver Island. As an integral part of the commercial team, you will be on the front line, leading, expanding and managing the opportunity pipeline, while continuing to support existing clients. The Sales Engineer will strengthen the relationships with their clients who are involved in the design and build of HVAC Systems. You will have experience dealing with these types of firms at all levels, from the executive level to Engineers. You will have previous experience and skilled with creating and executing a strategy to capitalize on all areas of commercial business that are within our client’s scope. Your strategic sales ability is proven through the management and execution of contracts, ensuring accurate and detailed product specifications and formulation of sales strategies and forecasts. Networking, prospecting and targeting clients through strategic outreach is essential aspects of this position, which involves hosting meetings, and lunch & learn sessions with Consulting Firms, Commercial Mechanical Contractors, Engineering firms. Proactively research, prospect, and target commercial project opportunities and work closely with key client decision makers including, Project Engineering leads, Developers, Mechanical Contractors, Mechanical Consulting Firms, etc. Develop and maintain a detailed technical understanding of the HVAC product line. Work with the commercial BC sales team to assist with design of commercial HVAC solutions to generate mechanical design specifications for our products for target commercial projects Prepare and assist in the implementation of effective seminars on our products, their correct application, selection and design, aimed at conveying the benefits of our systems to the consulting engineer community. Develop sales and application tools/materials which will assist the efficient specification of our clients products. Liaise with sales team to assist in the introduction of new product formats to the market. Work with internal commercial inside sales team to assist in the resolution of technical issues as required. Effectively manage assigned commercial accounts acting as the primary point of contact for pre and post sales related enquiries. Support our customers and external sales engineers across BC through system selection, design and other activities that will help expand the sales of our products. Provide regular insight and feedback to Commercial Sales Manager, and leadership team on trends, opportunities and challenges. Must have completed, post-secondary education – preferably a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent), or at minimum a full time two-year professional technical diploma Knowledge of commonly-used sales engineering concepts, in design innovation, practices, and procedures, within the HVAC/mechanical space is key A track record of sales, or application engineering with a technical focus Previous experience specifying technical/mechnical products in the Commercial sector is a must Possess the ability to continuously present recommendations to all levels of decision makers maximizing sales potential If you are seeking a technical sales engineering opportunity that will rely on your technical capacity and education, but comes with a performance commission incentive (along with a strong salary), this may be the perfect role.
