Job Description

Work Term: Permanent

Education: Bachelor's degree

Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years Mechanical engineering or equivalent experience

Work site environment: Furniture

Work setting: Manufacture

Tasks

  1. Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation and performance of mechanisms, components and systems
  2. Design power plants, machines and equipment
  3. Analyze dynamics and vibrations of mechanical systems and structures
  4. Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems
  5. Plan and manage projects, and prepare material, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications for machinery and systems
  6. Supervise technicians, technologists and other engineers and review and approve designs, calculations and cost estimates
  7. Develop risk management plans
  8. Print in 3D
  9. Design and develop medical diagnostic and clinical instrumentation, equipment and procedures
  10. Prepare reports
  11. Develop and conduct design verification simulations and prototype bench tests of components

Supervision: No supervision responsibility

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses:

  • SOLIDWORKS Certification
  • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association

Computer and technology knowledge:

  • SolidWorks software
  • MS Windows
  • SAP (FI/CO / HR / MM / OT SD)
  • Computer-aided design (CAD)
  • MS Office
  • MS Excel
