Job Description

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Mechanical Engineer's duties will be to ensure the proper operation of fixed mechanical process equipment. He/she will work on underground and surface projects. He/she will work in the Montreal office on a 5-2 schedule, with occasional travel to the Windfall site. During production, he will work a fly-in fly-out schedule, based at the Windfall site.

Duties and responsibilities

•Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety and accident prevention standards, and implement corrective measures;

•Respond to company health and safety requirements and recommendations;

•Ensure compliance with environmental and other regulations and laws;

•Ensure that workplaces are clean and safe at all times;

•Perform in-plant technical information surveys;

•Ensure long-term sustainability of corrective measures;

•Support mechanical departments in analyzing breakdowns to determine causes and eliminate future failures;

•Comment and annotate plans and specifications from consulting firms on mechanical mandates;

•Supervise and inspect the installation, modification and commissioning of mechanical installations;

•Keep mechanical equipment documentation up to date;

•Manage multidisciplinary projects;

•Participate in major maintenance processes;

•Support planning;

•Optimize maintenance plans

•Participate in audits;

•Work in collaboration with the construction project department and any other department;

•Any other related tasks;

Qualifications
•University degree in mechanical engineering;
•Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
•5 years' relevant experience in mechanical engineering;
•Valid class 5 driver's license;
•Hold an explosives license;
•Successful completion of mining modules 1-2-3-4-5 and 7 (an asset).
Technical skills
•Knowledge of mining equipment technology;
•Ability to use various maintenance-related software programs (e.g. IT Guide, SAP, etc.);
•Experience in project management and use of appropriate software;
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite;
•Ability to use manufacturers' diagnostic software;
•Bilingualism (french and english), (an asset).
Basic skills
•Problem-solving and diagnostic skills for fixed equipment;
•Sense of priorities and urgency;
•Long-term vision;
•Good organizational, planning and priority management skills;
•Good communication skills;
•Ability to work independently with minimum supervision;
•Good knowledge of lubrication, vibration and precision mechanics;
•Ability to share information.
