Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in heat transfer or moderator systems to support our operations at Bruce Power. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in optimizing and maintaining the efficiency and safety of our nuclear power generation systems.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, analyze, and optimize heat transfer systems and components used in nuclear power generation.
  • Develop and implement solutions for thermal management, including cooling systems and heat exchangers.
  • Conduct performance analysis and troubleshooting of moderator systems to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to improve plant performance and safety.
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations and simulations related to heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
  • Assist in the development and review of technical specifications, reports, and documentation.
  • Participate in safety reviews and risk assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Provide technical support during commissioning, maintenance, and operational activities.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in heat transfer and moderator systems.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with CANDU reactors or other nuclear reactor types.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in heat transfer, thermal systems, or moderator systems, preferably within the nuclear or energy sector.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.
  • Experience with nuclear reactor systems and safety protocols is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, CSA).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
