Position Overview: As a Material Planner, you will support and drive value throughout the supply chain at our manufacturing site in Blenheim, Ontario, Canada. Your materials background, strong work ethic, and attention to detail will help us drive excellence in our Lean manufacturing journey. Key Responsibilities: – Materials Forecasting : Create forecasts for material requirements, including estimating fluctuations in demand using data available in SAP. – Supplier & Customer Communication : Maintain clear communication with suppliers and internal customers regarding order status and changes in delivery dates or quantities. – Cross-Department Coordination: Work with engineering and purchasing to ensure materials are available when needed. – Material Specifications : Develop material specifications based on client needs and ensure materials meet those specifications. – Inventory Management : Review inventory levels, request additional quantities when necessary, and confirm timely delivery and quality of materials. – Inter-Warehouse Transfers: Validate that inter-warehouse transfers are properly booked in SAP to ensure inventory accuracy. – Production Schedule Review : Review and compare upcoming production schedules with SAP Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) to address raw material needs. – System Reviews & Metric Analysis : Perform daily SAP system reviews and metric analysis to identify potential and actual material shortages, and monitor order progress, material rejections, scrap, and rework. – Operations Support : Confirm necessary materials are available for Operations to meet required manufacturing/production levels. – Cycle Counting & Inventory Control : Support cycle counting and physical inventory schedules and reconcile variances. – Stocking Strategies: Assist in creating Plan for Every Part (PFEP) and stocking strategies to reduce lead times while maximizing production flow. – Production Scheduling: Support production scheduling, material moves, and final assembly builds. – Job Sequencing & Capacity Support : Provide key support in job sequencing, lead times, and capacity through manufacturing and assembly. – Continuous Improvement : Support and help drive continuous improvement initiatives. – KPI Improvement: Support and help improve site Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). – Replenishment Strategy : Help develop and support a systematic replenishment strategy. – Demand Conversion : Convert demand into production orders and manage MRP processes. – Customer Support: Work with Customer Service, Sales, and Customers to address lead time and delivery questions. Education & Experience: Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience. Evidence of exceptional ability in materials planning. ERP/MRP Systems Knowledge: Proficiency in various ERP/MRP systems is required, with SAPB1 preferred. Purchasing & Supplier Experience: Strong understanding of purchasing concepts, corporate-directed goals, and experience working with suppliers and freight carriers. Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of the fundamental structure and workings of an MRP and/or ERP system. Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally with purchasing, warehousing, shipping/receiving, and manufacturing teams.
