We invest in your growth because you invest in ours.Key Deliverables and Responsibilities:Reporting to the Regional Supply Chain Manager, the Material Planner is responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely purchasing of ingredients, and other materials used in the day to day manufacture of products for the facility.Based on the production schedule and inventory on hand calculate the material requirements to ensure continuous on time ingredients availability for production.Prepare purchase orders and send copies to suppliers.Follow-up of purchase orders, verify accuracy and update system as requiredSchedule material pick-up with 3rd party Logistics.Schedule shipments of inbound materials in Shipping Calendar.Manage short lead time materials and short shelf life materials efficientlyKeep up information flow with the warehouse about the expected shipments and quantitiesRespond to supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.Contact suppliers in order to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.Provide clear communication with production and scheduler on material shortage or delays.Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files, reports and price lists.Check shipments when they arrive to ensure that orders have been filled correctly and those goods meet specifications.Involvement in the annual and ad hoc inventory counts.Maintain item master accuracy.Collect all necessary data for new incoming materials.Perform department duties when necessary.Other duties as assignedQualifications & Experience:3+ years of proven work experience in material planning, purchasing or related fieldPost-Secondary Education Required Previous material planning experience in food manufacturing facility a definite assetSupply chain/purchasing certification an assetExperience working with a formalized MRP or ERP system; preferably JD Edward Strong Analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience managing relationships with external vendorsEffective administrative, time, and project management skillsReporting of any Food Safety or Quality Problems:Staff are to report any food safety or food quality problems or concerns that they become aware of to personnel with authority to initiate action.Ventura Foods Canada is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
