Position Job Title: Marketing Manager, Social MediaLocation: Vancouver, BC (Hybrid)Reports To: Associate Director, Digital MarketingPrimary PurposeUniversity Canada West is looking to hire an experienced Marketing Manager, Social Media, to join our dynamic, award-winning Marketing and Communications team.Our ideal candidate has experience developing and executing social media strategies and must have experience managing and mentoring people. As a successful hire, you will help grow the brand identity online through content and visuals representative of the University and our programs. The ideal candidate for this position has a positive attitude, a tireless work ethic, impeccable attention to detail, and an appetite for growth.Specific Responsibilities Help develop a social media strategy for the University and manage the executionDevelop content to increase community engagement online. Maintain online relations with the UCW communityProvide short- and long-term market forecasts and reports by conducting/directing market research collection, analysis, and interpretation of market dataDevelop new approaches for building brand awareness and community engagement, acquiring and analyzing data, and consulting with internal and external sourcesComplete social media marketing department operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work resultsManage social media marketing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, and managing employeesMaintain social media marketing staff job results by counseling and providing direction to employees and planning, monitoring, and appraising job resultsDevelop marketing staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunitiesCreate a brand persona through the brand’s online channelsUtilize the social channels most relevant to the brand on a daily basisRespond to social media queries through networksCreate successful social media ad campaigns that will generate leadsWork with relevant influencers or complementary brands to grow the university's social following organically and increase brand awarenessWork together with graphic designers to create compelling content for publication or campaignsManage social media calendar on a daily basisSupport social media requests from other departments and stakeholdersManage a group of Student Ambassadors. Communicate with current students and alumni to collect testimonials and produce engaging contentEnsure brand consistency and quality control across all platforms and monitor third-party posts to ensure compliance according to the UCW Brand Guide and Marketing ManualEvaluate competitorsAssist with other day-to-day marketing activities as neededPosition Requirements Competencies:Advanced knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, TikTok, and others)Coaching and subordinate involvementProficient in marketing research and statistical analysisStrong project management, multitasking, and problem-solving abilityImpeccable attention to detailA great sense of aesthetics, a love for great copy, and witty communication. Skilled in creating, editing, and promoting written and visual contentExcellent English written and verbal communication skillsProficiency with digital marketing and proven experience in creating a successful social media strategyThe ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environmentUp-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and social mediaEducation and Experience:A university degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related disciplineMinimum of 3 years of experience working in social media marketing rolesProven working experience in social media content creation2 years of proven experience in leadership and managing employeesExperience working with project management tools such as Asana, TrelloExperience working with social media management and listening tools such as Sprout Social, HootsuiteWill be required to work occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekendsAdobe Creative Suite skills, an asset
