Manual Machinist Job In Edmonton

Summary
The Machinist is responsible for the conversion of raw materials to a finished milled product while ensuring conformance to design specifications in an accurate and timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Produce machined components to specifications by studying sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information
• Operate Horizontal Mill, Vertical Turret Lathe, Milling and/or Engine Lathe.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and precision instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
• Read and interpret shop work instructions and shop procedures.
• Review quality issues with quality assurance, manufacturing support, and engineering to resolve quality issues and take corrective actions as required.
• Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used for machining work.
• Measure, examine and test completed parts in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
• Successful complete Operation Safety Training of Powered Industrial Equipment Training Course
• Significant overtime and weekend work required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Considerable knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Considerable knowledge of raw materials, production processes and quality control.
• Ability to apply general rules to solve problems
• Ability to stand, crouch, bend for 8 hour shifts
• Must be able lift up to 50 Lbs. on occasion
• Basic computer skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication

Education and Qualifications

• High school or GED required
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Must be able to read, write and speak English
