Job Description

Progressive Academy is looking for an enthusiastic Mandarin Teacher to join the Elementary School team. In this role, you will be the key element in the school’s ability to promote the social, emotional and academic well-being of the students and the key driver of a school culture. The successful candidate will be highly professional, organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated with strong technology skills. They should also be able to commit to working from 8:15am to 3:45pm, Monday through Friday. Responsibilities Key responsibilities for the full-time Elementary School Teacher will be wide in scope and will include many different tasks and responsibilities. Responsibilities may include but not be limited to: - Design, plan, and organize daily instruction for Mandarin reading, writing, listening and speaking; - Assign and correct homework - Evaluate the progress of students and discuss results with students, parents and school officials - Identify childrens' individual learning needs - Motivate students toward academic success in the Mandarin - Lead students in activities to promote their physical, mental and social development and their school readiness - Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops - Prepare subject material for presentation according to an approved curriculum - Select and requisition Mandarin books, instructional materials and instructional supplies and maintains required inventory records - Prepare, administer and correct tests - Teach students using lessons, discussions, audio-visual presentations and field trips Salary 49,400 annually / 37.5 hours per Week Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree Experience 1 year to less than 2 years Language Fluent in both Mandarin and English, able to use traditional and simplified characters, as well as zhuyin and pinyin systems to teach students.
