The platform also looks at how dirty the grid is at any moment. If a building has batteries and EVs chargers onsite, Peak Synergy manages their usage to meet sustainability goals and participate in complicated energy market programs.

The Opportunity

This Manager, Strategic Finance role will report to the Director, Renewable Energy Transactions. This high-visibility role requires interfacing with internal teams, our developer, and financing partners (equity and debt). You will be responsible for evaluating prospective development opportunities to determine whether they are financially feasible based on the type of project and its location (within continental North America). You will also get to work closely with Business Development, Operations, and the Executive Team.

Our Manager, Strategic Finance will:

Deliver. You will prepare financial models and investment analyses for Distributed Energy Resource (“DER”) projects in key North American markets to help underwrite sales, acquisitions, financing and partnership transactions.

  • Develop financial models to interpret the full value stack of projects relevant to their specific market.

  • Lead due diligence efforts, including technical, financial, and environmental assessments.

  • Collaborate with external advisors and consultants (legal, technical, environmental) to evaluate risks and opportunities.

Report. Present models, investment analysis and creative solutions to leadership in a clear and digestible manner with supporting findings to aid in key strategic decisions

  • Create PowerPoint presentations and IRR/investment analysis on project valuations for financing partners, Peak Power leadership and the board of directors

Collaborate. You will work with cross-functional team members to learn about all elements of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) energy sector projects and value stack for key markets in which Peak Power operates

  • Build solid relationships with internal and external clients

  • Stay abreast of industry developments, regulatory changes, and advancements in renewable energy technologies.

Grow. You are a critical thinker who can seize opportunities to create value for Peak Power’s long-term vision. You will proactively identify opportunities to improve operational performance, efficiency, and scalability and contribute to Peak Power’s electric asset portfolio growth.

What you bring to Peak Power:

The experience and education.

  • 5+ years of experience preferred within Project Finance, Corporate Development or Investment Banking in North America’s renewable energy assets; experience with energy storage projects or distributed energy projects is considered a plus

  • Knowledge of wholesale energy markets in the North American ISOs will be considered a plus

  • Experience presenting recommendations and summarizing financial analysis to Executive-level management of both internal and external stakeholders;

  • An understanding of project finance and development concepts;

  • Master’s Degree/CFA/CPA preferred;

  • Organized, diligent, and able to track and manage multiple streams of information on an ongoing basis;

  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
