As a manager of the Guidewire Development team, you will be working with globally distributed teams, including business representatives, business analysts, architects, and engineers to plan, design, develop, test, and implement solutions. You will also assess Technical Debts and Priorities with the leads to make sure the solutions that are built are sustainable and are production ready. We embrace a culture challenging the status quo and constantly looking to simplify processes, technology, and workflow.
What you'll do
Requirements Analysis
Collaborate with business analysts and product owners to review the software requirements, challenge them on the business value, validate the assumptions made, influencing the partners on the prioritization of the work
Solution Design & Estimation
Create architectural diagrams, high level and detailed design documents & estimates
Design screens, business rules, and workflow changes
Work with project managers and product owners on alternate solutions, and adjust the solution to either fit with the given timeline or be within the budget
Coding and Peer Reviews
Write programs, configure / package / deploy software
Establish and follow coding standards
Debug and unit test the code
Perform peer code reviews
Work with DevOps and Testers on improving automation
Coaching and Mentoring
Mentor team members on standard processes
Coach the senior resources to become the future leaders
People Management
Set clear goals for the team members
Meet with the team 1-on-1 on a regular basis
Collect feedback from collaborators and provide feedback to the team on a regular basis
Coach and deal with under performers
Hire talent by conducting technical, behavioral interviews
What you'll bring
Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
8+ years of experience in Guidewire Development, with at least 2 years managing a team
Integrating Guidewire PC / BC / CC / CM systems with downstream systems
Expertise in GOSU Language, configuration and coding using Guidewire tools and accelerators, Guidewire Batch, and Guidewire predefined plugins
Read code in other languages and reverse engineer products
Agile software development, including the use of Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, etc.
Domain knowledge on Property & Casualty Insurance
Other assets and nice to have:
Guidewire certifications
Core Java and Spring Boot
REST APIs, web services, and messaging
Database systems such as Oracle and Mongo
