The Global Record-to-Report Operations team, within the Finance Hub, is tasked with delivering the end-to-end operational accounting process and activities, uphold quality and gain efficiencies across finance functions.

We are hiring for a Manager, Record to Report and Tax Accounting, for the Company’s North America Operations. This role will report to the Senior Director, Record to Report, North America & Corporate, and be a member of a team of Legal Entity Controllers (LECs), Accounting Managers and Analysts responsible for managing the end-to-end US GAAP and Local GAAP financial reporting, statutory reporting, and tax compliance processes. Beyond the support of global financial reporting processes, this role is specifically responsible for statutory financial reporting and income tax compliance for the Company’s Operations in Canada.

Focus, Scope, & Impact:

  • Member of a team of Legal Entity Controllers (LECs), Accounting Managers and Analysts responsible for managing the end-to-end US GAAP and Local GAAP financial reporting process, statutory reporting, and tax compliance for North America, which includes support to Operating Unit/s and legal entities/companies incorporated into the company’s consolidated financial statements filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on a quarterly frequency for quarter and full year results. Local country statutory filings are done typically annually for financial statements and typically monthly and/or as required for tax compliance.
  • Beyond the support of global processes, this role is specifically responsible for statutory financial reporting and income tax compliance for the Company’s operations in Canada.
  • Partners with Center Finance (primarily the Controller’s Group, Corporate Treasury, and Corporate Tax), Region/Franchise, and Operating Unit (OU) teams to execute work driving business results and regulatory compliance. Collaborates with various Finance teams (i.e., Platform Services/Financial Hub, Controller’s Group, Corporate Audit Department, Corporate Treasury, Corporate Tax) to ensure timeliness and accuracy of the company’s accounting records, financial statements, and statutory (financial and tax) filings.
  • Collaborates with accounting operations teams at a Managed Services Provider in accordance with established governance protocols & procedures. Provides guidance to and oversees the activities and output of the Managed Services Provider team for the specific geography/process.
  • Maintains data quality, ensuring compliance with standards and consistency of information output for financial reporting, tax compliance and business consumption in partnership with various teams and stakeholders.
  • Supports a healthy internal control environment by executing activities in accordance with designed processes that address control risks as defined in the company’s Risk and Control Matrix.
  • Contributes to global initiatives that standardize and automate work across the networked organization, and supports changes to policies, procedures, and systems where they can alleviate constraints, risks, and issues.
  • Specific role responsibilities:
  • Prepares and books Canadian income tax provision on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis.
  • Compiles and analyses financial information for the preparation of Canadian income tax returns and manages the quarter end and year-end tax processes, including income tax filings (supported by Big4 tax compliance provider).
  • Identifies and minimizes Canadian tax risk and exposure with quarterly and year end accounting provisions.
  • Prepares and files Canadian non-resident tax withholding and annual T4A-NR return.
  • Oversees and responds to inquiries for Canadian federal and provincial income tax audits, and for Internal and External Auditors.
  • Manages other ad-hoc Canadian income tax related projects (as necessary).
  • Compiles and reviews the detail contract log for all the Canada entities.
  • Reviews monthly Trial Balance analyses prepared by Managed Service Provider and provide sign off.
  • Reviews all quarterly and yearend Balance Sheet narratives.
  • Reviews quarterly and year end Cash Flow statements and Cash Flow Narratives.
  • Reviews and provides support for lease accounting and required leasing submissions to Corporate.
  • Performs balance sheet reconciliations support and review.
  • Performs legal and environment reserves accounting.
  • Supports the annual process of identification of Company Related Parties transactions for proxy disclosure.
  • Reviews Intercompany stock transfers between entities in North America.
  • Reviews required year-end forms supporting the disclosure processes.
  • Partners with the North America Operating Unit on any inquiries, as necessary.
  • Partners with various stakeholders to support internal and external audits.
  • Partners with various stakeholders in implementing new business models or new entities, and/or liquidating entities, as relevant.

KEY SUCCESS PARAMETERS

Experience

  • 5-7 years of financial accounting/reporting and tax reporting/compliance experience in a multi-national company with a global footprint. Preferably experience in working with a Managed Services Provider across different cultures and time zones.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance & accounting is required. Professional certifications (CPA/ACCA/Chartered Accountant) would be desired.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, Canadian GAAP and Canadian Income Tax Regulations.
  • Strong understanding of SAP S/4 Hana and/or equivalent financial and tax reporting tools and systems.
  • Relevant involvement in change projects and initiatives, with an operational excellence mindset.
  • Critical thinking, business knowledge, and problem-solving skills working with multiple internal and stakeholders, internal and external auditors, third party vendors, understanding risk and urgency in the preparation and delivery of an appropriate response balanced against competing deliverables.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, with ability to multi-task with proven follow-through and adherence to changing priorities and deadlines.
