The Position: The Marketing and Communications department at Abilities Centre is looking for a savvy Manager, Marketing and Communications to help us develop and implement our ongoing communications and marketing strategies. Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Manager, Marketing and Communications will help manage all content and communications for digital, social, and print media. The Manager, Marketing and Communications will work with Abilities Centre teams to assess new and innovative means to engage with members, reach new audiences and create new content using photo and video. The Manager, Marketing and Communications will work closely with all department leads to support the growth of Abilities Centre’s local and national marketing and communications strategy that reflects our collaborative work with our partners and highlights the impact of our programs and services. What You’ll Do: You will work with the President and Chief Executive Officer to develop the annual marketing and communications strategy that drives growth, awareness, and engagement. You will work with the Marketing and Communications team and cross-departmental leads to create annual campaign and content calendar; you will help the team prioritize projects based on complexity and urgency. You will work with the Research, Membership, and Program teams to develop impact stories and key messages that align with Abilities Centre vision. You will manage the Marketing and Communications department budget, with assistance from the President and Chief Executive Officer . You will manage the Marketing and Communications department, including payroll, scheduling/vacation planning, performance reviews and recruitment needs, with assistance from the President and Chief Executive Officer . You will collaborate with both sales and design staff to produce advertising campaigns for membership sales, and collateral for sponsorship opportunities, aimed at generating revenue to fuel the mission of Abilities Centre . You will ensure all content is accessible and inclusive, utilizing techniques and processes outlined in Abilities Centre’s Accessibility and Brand Guidelines. You will increase public relations efforts for Abilities Centre and its Executives by exploring brand exposure opportunities, event attendance, and speaking engagements. What You’ll Bring: Education & Experience : You have a post-secondary degree/diploma in communications, public relations, or related program. You bring 5+ years’ work experience in social media, graphic design, writing or a related field (not-for-profit or charitable experience is an asset). You have hands-on experience in developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies. You have creative experience with photoshop, Adobe PDF programs and/or Canva, photography. You have experience and sensitivity in dealing with clients of different cultural and racial backgrounds including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity. Technical Skills & Knowledge : You exhibit knowledge of inclusion, accessibility, and accommodation issues. You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud products. You have excellent organizational skills and are extremely detail oriented. You have strong presentation and communication skills across multiple mediums. You have a passion for all things content and strong understanding of how content can be deployed across various platforms in different scenarios to target specific audiences and meet objectives. You work well under pressure and can balance/prioritize multiple projects and deliver in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment. You are flexible, adaptive to change, and able to handle shifting priorities with maturity and foresight to cope with input and changes with short notice at times. You are self-motivated, and results-oriented; you demonstrate initiative and contribute to a work environment that values and encourages innovation. You can work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and can achieve results through adaptability and creative problem-solving. You are an effective team player with a positive attitude whose interactions demonstrate accountability, authenticity, and collaboration. You have good conflict resolution skills and are dedicated to customer service that exceeds expectations. Administrative Requirements: It is required that you have a current and clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector to work at Abilities Centre. You are flexible regarding work schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.
