It is essential that all staff and physicians receive training and understand their roles and responsibilities in this field.Summary of responsibilities In collaboration with the surgical nursing staff, Chief of Surgery, Director and interdisciplinary team, plans, coordinates, directs, and controls the activities of the Inpatient Surgical Unit, Total Joint Assessment Clinic, and Bundled Care Clinic to ensure efficient and effective delivery of in-patient, out-patient services to surgical patients. Develops, creates and implements Clinical policies. Responsible for managing staff and budget. Takes measures to ensure proper utilization of the surgical beds and available resources as well as embody a culture of caregiver inclusion in the patients plan of care. Manages Med/Surg, and Surgical Outpatient ambulatory clinics working collaboratively with the Director, physicians and team.Requirements of the jobBachelor of Science in NursingHolds current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of OntarioNursing supervisory or management experienceRecent related clinical experienceFamiliar with medical-surgical equipment, diabetic insulin pumpsExcellent people, time management, conflict management, financial management and organization skillsDemonstrated ability to manage numerous and diverse activities, organizing and prioritizing appropriately to meet demands and expectationsDemonstrated ability to analyze, problem solve and make recommendations for change and implement and evaluateComputer literacy (MS Office, Excel, Outlook, databases, scheduling)Demonstrated commitment to patient safetyKnowledge of collective agreements and experience working in a unionized environmentFunctional proficiency in English, oral and writtenAsset:Masters degree in a health related fieldFunctional level in oral French
