Job Summary:

The key objective of the Finance Manager, FP&A is to provide support to IPG’s Non-Insurance (PetPlace) finance and business leaders in helping them to execute on their financial strategies and overall financial performance. The Finance Manager works independently, being responsible for providing greater financial insight to the business lines partners, management, and improving financial report production effectiveness. The Finance Manager interacts regularly with Senior Level Management across the company regarding priorities on the corporate agenda and partners closely with business leaders cross-functionality, providing analytic expertise that help optimize the business.

Job Location: Hybrid in Oakville, ON

Main Responsibilities: 

Financial Analysis

  • Management reporting and commentary including insight of data and analytics.

  • Calculate and report financial results and key drivers against budget forecast identifying risks and recommendations for reporting purposes.

  • Evaluate financial performance and make recommendations through insightful management reporting by demonstrating engagement and collaboration with business partners.

  • Support the development of Finance reports as requested, endeavor to improve financial information.

  • Research financial and operational variances in source systems or through individuals knowledgeable of course systems.

  • Work with Finance shared service team on issues such as billing, collection and refunds and being liaison with business on reconciliation and payment projects.

  • Provide forecasts and recommendations on changes and using assets more effectively.

  • Various ad hoc financial and operational analyses and contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.

  • Reports to the Director of Finance and works closely with company’s division leaders.

Planning & Forecasting

  • Lead budgeting and forecasting initiatives for PetPlace business units and support groups.

  • Ownership of timely collection of financial and non-financial data from business units.

  • Timely and accurate preparation of budgets for supported business units and groups.

  • Consolidate multiple companies’ budget/forecast P&Ls, maintain a model for Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements.

  • Load budget/forecast data to consolidation software on a quarterly basis.

  • Load budget/forecast data to reporting software for monthly variance reporting.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly financial reporting.

  • Build/maintain financial report templates and deliver monthly financial package accurately and timely.

  • Produce quarterly financial reporting.

  • Oversee consolidation, mapping and loading of company financials to corporate financial reporting system.

  • Delivers consolidated financial reports with underlying data in various currencies among multiple foreign and domestic subsidiaries.

Qualifications: 

Experience:

  • 7 years of full cycle accounting experience with responsibilities for the production of consolidated financial statements including P&L, Balance sheet and Cash flow.

  • Adequate working experience with International Financial Reporting Standards & US GAAP.

  • Experience working in a contract driven service business.

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages for both general ledger and financial reporting.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced skills in MS Excel.

  • Strong verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong financial reporting, planning and modeling skills.

  • Solid business acumen and the ability to think strategically,

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Flexible in work schedule to meet the demand of various reporting cycles.

Education:

  • Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting or related field

  • Professional designation; CPA or CFA Preferred
