We are currently looking for Manager of Finance to join our Finance team in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. This is a full-time permanent position. (hybrid work schedule)

The Manager of Finance shall hold the responsibility for managing the overall financial operations of Ottobock HealthCare Canada. The position is accountable for divisional financial reporting, budgeting, costing, tax, audit, building financial models and trend analysis, and preparation of financial reports. Participate in creating and implementing policies and procedures relating to business processes and internal controls, and leading the local accounting team. Identify areas of opportunity where costs may be reduced, effectiveness and efficiency of resource utilization may be improved, and provide insight and recommendations. Adhere to appropriate accounting principles. Provide appropriate reporting, analysis, and feedback.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the Accounting operations including the review of journal entries, payroll, Accounts Payable/Receivables.
  • Work with Operations to define, measure, analyze, improve and control current processes. Manage research and development program for CCRA and accounting requirements.
  • Assist with analysis and review of the organization’s financial performance by collecting, analyzing, reporting, and interpreting operational, financial and statistical data.
  • Manage and coordinate month-end, quarterly and year-end reporting.
  • Manage and coordinate with department leads forecasting for future quarterly as required.
  • Prepare adjusting, closing entries, and submit monthly and ad hoc reporting. Maintain standardized controls and reporting that adhere to Canada and GAAP, IFRS, etc. as appropriate.
  • Prepare annual budgeting process for Canadian entity with active collaboration with department leads.
  • Assists in developing goals, objectives, and appropriate metrics which support the overall Company strategy.
  • Coordination of year-end tax and audit work as assigned.
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of standard manufacturing costs, variance analysis, analyzing trends and providing recommendations to leadership.
  • Supervise accounting staff as assigned. Involvement in staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, and selection of candidates. Provide appropriate feedback to subordinates and administer disciplinary action if necessary.
  • Provide support to relevant groups in finding solutions to technical questions and issues. 
  • Proactively identify potential hurdles and apply problem solving and decision-making skills to find acceptable resolutions.
  • Active member of the Canadian Leadership Team.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Business/Accounting with advanced degree or professional designation (such as: CA, CPA, CMA, CMT) or Master’s degree preferred
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of Corporate Accounting and Financial Management.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferable; strong understanding of Cost Accounting; significant experience in Corporate Accounting; understanding of financial policies and practices and Canadian GAAP; and IFRS a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial and local requirements regarding financial records, pension, profit sharing and the like is essential.
  • Financial Analysis, budgeting, strategic planning and forecasting.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel expert.
  • Knowledge of IT systems, SAP or other ERP system.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Good project management and/or supervisory skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, problem solving, and organizational skills are essential.
