Our vision is for students to discover and build upon their strengths, engage in classroom and community learning, and learn to navigate failure in order to thrive.ResponsibilitiesThe Manager, Employer Relations works under the direction of the Associate Director, Careers & Experience to manage the development of programs, resources, and supports to help all Western students and alumni in building a meaningful life and career. The role oversees the work of staff, ensures the programmatic priorities and objectives of the team are met and assessment plans are developed and applied. The Manager acts as a key ambassador for the Employer Relations team and works in consultation with the Associate Director to develop plans for the team to strengthen existing programs and develop new opportunities, supports and services. The Manager leads, develops, implements and monitors the activities of their team with a goal of providing support and increased opportunities for all members of the Western community. QualificationsEducation:Certified Human Resources Professional preferredExperience:5 years’ experience developing and managing external relationships for a large complex organization3 years’ experience supervising staff and projectsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:In-depth understanding of human resources best practices as it relates to recruitmentProven ability to build reciprocal and sustainable partnerships with internal units and external organizationsWell-developed public speaking and facilitation skills across a diverse spectrum of stakeholders (e.g., staff, faculty, students, partners, and funders)Ability to develop and deliver innovative programs based on best practices, and in response to emerging student and campus needsStrong supervisory and coaching skills to facilitate staff development and performance evaluationAbility to establish effective routines for excellent communication with all members of a team to maximize productivityAbility to motivate others to maintain quality services and programming in a constantly changing environmentExceptional organizational skills, including managing multiple competing priorities and an ability to adapt quickly to emerging prioritiesDemonstrated ability to influence at all levels within the universityJudgment, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a consultative and collaborative leadership approach to addressing issues and opportunitiesA well-defined sense of diplomacy, including sold negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skillsIntermediate skills with Microsoft Office SuiteWhile transcripts are not required for the interview, they are mandatory prior to any offer of employment.Western Values DiversityThe University invites applications from all qualified individuals.
