Job Summary:

As the Manager, Data Governance and Quality for Biopharma and Provider Solutions, you will have a critical role in safeguarding the accuracy, integrity, and security of our valuable and highly sensitive data assets. Reporting to the Director, Data & Analytics (D&A), you will be accountable for developing and executing a comprehensive governance and compliance roadmap tailored to the unique requirements of Biopharma and Provider Solutions. Working collaboratively with key internal stakeholders as well as cross-functional teams including Legal, Compliance, and Enterprise Data Governance, you will be responsible to ensure adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data practices, policies, and standards both at a technical and functional level.

Acting as a catalyst for change, you will drive a culture of data governance and quality within our business unit through effective communication and cross-functional collaboration. You will inspire and motivate teams to embrace data governance practices and policies that enhance data quality and drive positive outcomes in our dynamic and fast-paced environment. Your innovative thinking and strategic mindset will be pivotal in developing effective strategies to improve the quality and value of core data assets, respond to regulatory requirements and foster a culture of collaboration and accountability.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary representative for Biopharma and Provider Solutions for all enterprise governance-related commitments, ensuring compliance with data governance and quality standards and regulations specific to the Canadian healthcare biopharma industry.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance and quality framework, policies, and procedures specific for Biopharma and Provider Solutions, and in alignment with Enterprise Data Governance strategy and framework.

  • Develop and implement data quality management processes and procedures to identify, assess, and improve data quality issues, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability of data.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data quality requirements and establish data quality metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Monitor and audit data governance and compliance activities, identify and resolve issues, and report on performance and outcomes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data quality metrics, establish data quality rules, and implement data quality controls to monitor and measure data accuracy and consistency.

  • Lead initiatives to address data quality issues by collaborating with McKesson Technology, business stakeholders, and data owners to implement data cleansing, enrichment, and validation processes.

  • Establish data governance roles and responsibilities, including data stewards and data owners, and provide guidance and support to ensure their successful execution.

  • Proactively engage with data owners, stewards, quality analysts and other stakeholders to establish and enforce compliance measures, ensuring data integrity and security throughout the organization.

  • Develop and deliver data governance and quality training programs to promote awareness and understanding across the organization.

  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies related to data governance and quality, and recommend improvements to existing practices.

  • Implement data governance tools and technologies to support data quality initiatives, including data profiling, data cleansing, and data validation processes.

  • Support data governance and compliance initiatives and projects, such as data cataloging, data lineage, data classification, data retention, and data privacy.

  • Establish and manage data governance committees or working groups to promote data governance and quality initiatives, ensuring cross-functional participation and alignment with enterprise strategy and goals.

  • Stay updated with emerging trends, technologies, and regulations in the Canadian healthcare biopharma industry, continuously enhancing knowledge and skills in data governance and quality management.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations, including the development and implementation of data privacy controls and measures.

  • Drive a culture of data governance and quality within the organization through effective communication, training, and change management initiatives.

Key Requirements:

Education & Working Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • 7+ years of proven experience in data governance, data quality management, or a similar role, preferably within the Canadian healthcare sector, specifically in biopharma or specialty health with extensive experience in working with patient data.

  • Proficiency in data quality assessment methodologies, tools, and techniques, ensuring accurate and reliable data management.

  • Familiar with Canadian healthcare data privacy regulations, such as the PIPEDA and experience implementing data privacy and governance controls within a Canadian healthcare context, specifically in biopharma or specialty health, is a strong plus.

  • Proficiency with popular data governance tools and platforms (e.g. Alation).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an eye for identifying and resolving data quality issues efficiently, considering the specific data protection requirements in the biopharma or specialty health fields.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Skillful in adequately crafting messages to target audiences with experience in presenting to senior leadership.

  • Ability to workwith cross-functional teams, develop strong relationships, and bring individuals together to focus on common goals.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing requirements and timelines.

  • Interacts with management and senior customer personnel on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines.

  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to lead and/or mentor a team of analysts.

  • Excellent attention to detail with sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Creative and innovative thinker with a proven ability to proactively research, prioritize and recommend solutions.

  • High sense of urgency with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$86,600 - $144,300
