Position Overview This is a specialized position within Commercial Underwriting that will assist in the oversight of the existing commercial mortgage portfolio. The Manager, Commercial Portfolio Management is responsible for underwriting large commercial mortgage renewals and annual reviews in accordance with on-going regulatory, risk and compliance requirements. Additional credit related and management duties are also required to support the Commercial Portfolio Management team and regulatory requirements. Position Responsibilities Analyze and underwrite commercial mortgage renewals and annual reviews for multi-residential, non-residential and construction facilities including detailed analysis of the borrower, real estate security and loan terms as well as identifying any associated risk.Communicate on a regular basis, with direct clients, third party servicers or internal partners regarding mortgages that are maturing and/or coming up for annual review. Request due diligence materials and follow up for any outstanding conditions precedent to renewal/annual review.Ensure all criteria has been satisfied on underwritten commercial mortgage renewals/annual reviews and outstanding documentation/conditions, if any, are being met in a timely manner.Maintain workflow and complete the underwriting of annual review and renewal files within the target amount of timeUnderwrite and process assumption requests as required.Attain service standards for processing all mortgage transactions in accordance with Company policies and procedures.Assist in the overall management of the Commercial Mortgage Portfolio, including the management of any special requests and problem loans as required.Escalate issues/obstacles/trends to the Senior Manager, Commercial Portfolio Management as appropriate with recommendations/solutions.Assume a leadership position within the team and support the Senior Manager, Commercial Portfolio Management to manage special requests and fluctuations in workflow.Assist in coaching, mentoring and training Portfolio team members as required.Ensure all transactions adhere to and are appropriately risk rated with a sponsor, property and aggregate ratingRelated Experience 3-5 years in commercial mortgage lending, financing of multi-residential & non-residential properties; construction lendingUnderwriting and finance backgroundIn depth understanding of commercial mortgage industrySkillsStrong organizational, time-management and analytical skills to work effectively within established guidelinesAble to multi-task and flourish in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environmentWell-developed negotiation, influencing skillsStrong interpersonal relationship building and listening skillsProven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environmentExcellent written / verbal communication and professional maturityUnderstands Home Trust Company’s lending criteria and cultureRemains current on OFSI Guidelines and other applicable legislationStrong knowledge of MS Office, loan origination software Acknowledgement All employees of Home Trust Company must comply with all applicable Home Trust Company, and specific Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls.
