Reports to: Senior Manager, Corporate Communications & Community Investment

Status: Full-time Contract (18-months)

Location: Head office (5200 Orbitor Drive, Mississauga)/Hybrid

Purpose

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications & Community Investment, the Change Communications Manager will lead strategic and tactical communications throughout Gay Lea Foods’ ongoing business and cultural transition, working with cross-functional teams and project managers to ensure employees are informed, engaged, and empowered throughout the change process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Change Communication Strategies: Design comprehensive communication plans tailored to various organizational changes, process improvements, and project updates that ensure timely and consistent delivery of key messages to Gay Lea Foods employees and members.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Partner with cross-functional teams, including HR, leadership, and project managers, to align communication efforts with organizational goals and project timelines.
  • Craft Engaging Messaging: Create clear, concise, and compelling messaging that communicates the rationale behind changes, addresses potential concerns, and highlights the benefits for employees and the organization.
  • Provide Change Communication Resources: Develop materials and equip managers and frontline staff with the knowledge and resources needed to effectively communicate change within their respective teams.
  • Monitor Feedback and Adjust Strategies: Collect feedback and track key performance metrics to gauge the effectiveness of communication efforts and resistance to change. Use insights to refine communication strategies as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Proven experience (3-5 years) in organizational communication, change management, or related roles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with change management methodologies and best practices in communication strategy development.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and enterprise social networking platforms.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment:

  • This is a hybrid role, requiring an estimated two-days per week working from the co-operative’s head office in Mississauga, Ontario.
