Manager, Business Events (12 Month Contract)

Under the general supervision of the Senior Manager, Sales and within established NPC policies, procedures, and guidelines, contributes to the overall annual MC&IT Business Event sales target as assigned and ensures accounts are serviced to provide excellent customer experience.


Niagara Parks offers a rate of $63,996.97 per year to $76,353.08 per year for this position as well as a comprehensive benefit plan and defined benefit pension plan.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Completion of a University Degree in Business Administration, College Diploma in Tourism/Sales or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Knowledge of Niagara Parks restaurants, attractions, heritage sites, golf and passes.
  • Proficiency in both Microsoft computer applications. 
  • Knowledge of general office practices, equipment, and procedures.
  •  Five (5) years of experience in the tourism/hospitality industry; relevant management and related sales experience.
  • Exemplary customer service skills including oral and written communication/interpersonal skills.
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to perform duties with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise tact and courtesy.
  • Time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a high pressure work environment.
  • Demonstrates maturity, integrity and professionalism in the ability to collaborate with internal Niagara Parks personnel and external Niagara Parks clients and industry partners.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Key Activities

  • Under the direction of the Director of Sales, develops and maintains conference accounts in specified market territory that generate conference group business for the Niagara Parks venues.
  • Review and qualify sales leads from tourism organizations (i.e. Niagara Falls Tourism/Niagara Falls Convention Centre).
  • Conduct direct sales efforts including telephone prospecting calls, outside sales calls, site tours and on-site client entertainment.
  • Maintain clear and up to date files and records on each client.
  • Plan and attend tradeshows, sales missions and all other sales related activities.
  • Oversee and attend familiarization tours, site inspections and presentations as required.
  • Complete sales reports as required.


Services Activities

  • Knowledgeable of procedures of sales and other departments regarding group reservations and space availability.
  • Coordinates and enters sales reservations and bookings into applicable programs.
  • Compiles correspondence, proposals, contracts and communicate with all departmental teams on venues, schedules and requirements of each booking.
  • Reconciles functions after completion to obtain actual revenue amounts and reconciles with sales departmental spreadsheets and tracking.
  • Completes weekly and monthly sales reporting for revenue reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, experience in GSR, Accesso, Teeway group reservations, experience in finalizing and detailing events.
  • Valid Driver’s License “G” required and access to a vehicle.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work evenings and weekends as required.
