Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Maintenance Supervisor is a key position within our team.  The position is responsible for maintaining a high level of reliability on all machine centers in addition to organizing all predictive and breakdown maintenance so that work can be carried out in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that everyone works in a safe manner, taking pro-active steps to eliminate risks to the health and safety of the team and/or the environment
  • Having an open-door policy to listen to and address team member concerns in a pro-active manner
  • Communicating daily tasks and work targets to teams
  • Coordinating work inspections, welding, confined space and lock-out tag-out permits
  • Facilitating communication between team members, departments and shifts
  • Ensuring training plans are maintained and delivered efficiently and effectively
  • Understanding and upholding the collective agreement
  • Coaching team members to reach their full potential, both individually and as a team
  • Supporting and demonstrating WCM (World Class Manufacturing) and Lean principles in all undertakings
  • Facilitating a culture of continuous improvement
  • Performing inventory checks to make sure that adequate materials and tools are available to meet the needs of current and future shifts
  • Working with their teams and other departments to troubleshoot or address out of the ordinary circumstances including emergency situations, breakdowns and manpower issues. Uses these opportunities to develop others as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a complex team through change in a positive and motivating manner
  • Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking
  • Strong communication skills to communicate verbally one on one and to a group
  • Written communication skills to document and communicate clearly in writing
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and to meet short-term and long-term goals
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and demonstrated knowledge and application of Lean/WCM principles an asset
  • An industrial maintenance background, particularly in an electrical and/or mechanical capacity an asset
  • SAP knowledge an asset
  • Supervisor Health and Safety Awareness and OHSA knowledge Experience working in a unionized environment a definite asset
