The Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair operations within the plant. Promotes the use of protective and preventative maintenance systems and techniques to improve principle operating equipment and system liability by performing the following duties personally.

Responsibilities:


  • Evaluates cost reduction opportunities; introduces new preventative maintenance technology programs
  • Directs and supervises workers engaged in repairing, dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial equipment
  • Participate in preparation of annual budget
  • Conducts technical reviews of vendors and contractors to ensure that they are capable of providing the equipment, machinery, and/or services required
  • deals with daily union issues/concerns
  • Records and analyzes data to determine mechanical problems


Requirements

  • Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct maintenance staff
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Equipment maintenance, safety knowledge
  • Supervisory experience
  • Cement , but pulp and paper, mining, heavy construction (preferable)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
