Title: Maintenance Operations Supervisor

Job Type: Full time

In collaboration with the maintenance team and under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising the team of mechanics and electricians under his/her responsibility, inspecting mechanical, electrical work, and providing support and expertise to maintenance team, maintenance and production professionals and managers.

Key Accountabilities :

  • Supervises the daily activities of a multi-disciplined maintenance team
  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner
  • Coordinate the technical execution of the plant's maintenance work
  • Validate the feasibility of production work requests
  • Participate in the development of solutions to improve the plant's various machines and equipment
  • Demonstrate leadership and promote Terrapure values
  • Complete accident and near-miss investigations
  • Lead daily team meetings
  • Provide support, when required, in the investigation of causes of stoppages, breakdowns or malfunctions
  • Supervise repairs carried out by maintenance staff and/or Contractors
  • Participate actively with maintenance and operations team members to minimize production downtime
  • Works effectively with the Maintenance Planner, facilitating the smooth flow of daily work activities.
  • Complete various reports as required
  • Participate in the development of maintenance procedures
  • Develop the skills of the work team
  • Quickly diagnose equipment breakdowns and communicate information
  • Implement the preventive and predictive maintenance program for plant equipment

Experience & Education:

  • Trade License preferred, Millwright 433A or Electrician 309A
  • DEP in industrial mechanics or another post-secondary diploma relevant to the position
  • 5 to 10 years' experience in general maintenance in a unionized industrial environment
  • Knowledge of metal properties, steel and stainless steel (asset)
  • Knowledge of rotary kilns and/or refineries an asset
  • Experience working in heavy industry (an asset)
  • Computer skills (Outlook, Word, etc.) and computerized maintenance management systems such as SAP.
  • Use of a maintenance management system
  • Task management by work order
  • Use of equipment tree structure
  • Working with the notion of equipment criticality/priority

Qualifications:

  • The ability to troubleshoot and demonstrate organizational skills
  • Carry out any other tasks required within the scope of his/her duties.
  • Ability to manage a team of mechanics, electricians, and electrical technicians
  • Have a rigorous and positive attitude towards health and safety standards
  • Knowledge of maintenance and related best practices:
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Be available for emergency interventions 24 hours a day
  • Be available to work weekends for maintenance downturn
  • Open-minded and focused on process improvement
