Our future - and that of our children - depends on our ability to find economically and ecologically viable ways to provide for a growing population's basic needs.JOB SUMMARY:We have a 12-month contract for a Maintenance Manager position located at our Dundas facility. Reporting to the Plant Manager and directing the maintenance team, the Maintenance Manager leads the maintenance activities at the Dundas, Ontario location. This position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations of the Dundas facility with a focus on health and safety, maintenance costs, personnel development, and human resources standards and ensuring high levels of employee, customer, and financial satisfaction. The Maintenance Manager is also a key member of the sites Plant Operations Committee working collaboratively with all other department heads as a unified Leadership Team.RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage the maintenance department within a fast paced, manufacturing environment including fostering positive relationshipsLead, mentor and support the Maintenance Supervisor and department employees in the maintenance of plant equipment to ensure it can meet quality, efficiency and yield standards; takes a leadership role in all investigations, inspections, and auditsFosters positive relationships within the maintenance departments, on the production floor and at all levels of the business and with all external contactsLead and participate in Capital Projects and Operational Improvement ProjectsAssume a Leadership role in the Health and Safety program, including driving a safety focused culture on the shop floor and safety related Work OrdersAdministrate and publish reports on all first aids, medical aids and lost time accidents; participates in and supports all accident investigationsEnsure current and future departmental compliance with all standards, including the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, CFIA, etc.Take the departmental lead in maintaining, developing and compliance with the HACCP plan, GMP's, SOP's and procedures within the Maintenance department, and when overlapping with other departments and business unitsProvide support and facilitate effective work group meetings within the Maintenance departmentEnsure the completion of time and attendance records (Kronos) for all Maintenance employeesSet and manage all maintenance and work scheduling to minimize overtime, reduce downtime and maximize throughputComplete and communicate daily and weekly performance reportsCollaborate with other key stake holders in 5S program development, execution and maintenanceActively involved in the budget processComplete Safety scorecard and personal performance evaluationsCollaborate with Human Resources to create professional development plans for direct reports, giving importance to personal goals and objectivesPerform related duties as assigned by supervisorMaintain compliance with all company policies and proceduresREQUIREMENTS:Preference will be given to candidates with a University education in Mechanical/Industrial/Electrical Engineering or a College diploma in Mechanical/Industrial/Electrical Engineering Technology or related discipline and/or equivalent working experienceMillwright or Electrician license is an assetMinimum 10 years leading a maintenance departmentExperience in a food or rendering environment considered an asset but not requiredKnowledge of health & safety, CFIA, MOECC regulations and requirementsEnthusiastic, positive and self-motivated, with an ability to work independentlyExcellent analytical, time management, and organizational skillsSupervisory experience illustrating an inclusive team management style approachStrong coaching/mentoring skills to assist with staff developmentProven ability to multi-task in a fast pace environmentHigh level of computer competency including knowledge of Microsoft Office applicationsExcellent oral and written communications skillsFamiliarity with 5S and Lean methodology and philosophy an assetStrong communication skills and cooperation required across other functional business areas, across Corporate teams, regulatory bodies, communities, and local businessesPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the AODA, ESA, OHSA and other federal, and provincial standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standardsAbility to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the AODA, ESA, OHSA and other federal, and provincial standardsMust be able to walk moderate distance (through plant, offices, and to maintenance several times per day)Must be able to climb flights of stairsMust be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbsMust be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephoneMust be able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time (up to 2 hours at a time)Must be able to stand for up to 10-15 minutes at a timeDarling is committed to a workforce that reflects the diversity of the communities where our facilities are located.
