The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA), under the authority of the Emergency Management Act , leads the coordination and co-operation of all organizations involved in emergencies and disasters. This includes emergency and disaster prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. 

Alberta First Responders Radio Communication System (AFRRCS) is a public safety radio network for first responders in federal, municipal, provincial and Indigenous agencies across the province. Agencies using AFRRCS include first responders such as police, fire and ambulance services. AFRRCS provides interoperability between and within, the first responder agencies.

Join our Information Management and Technology (IMT) team, which is responsible for developing and maintaining custom applications and solutions to reduce administration while supporting Agency business functions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, IMT professionals, and end-users, to translate business requirements into scalable and user-friendly Power Apps solutions aligning Power Apps development initiatives with solutions addressing AEMA's strategic objectives and technological roadmap.

As a Developer - M365 Power Apps, your primary responsibility will be to support the design, development, implementation, training and maintenance of Microsoft Power Apps solutions within the Alberta Emergency Management Agency. 

You will be responsible for: 

  • Collaborating closely with the Senior Business Analyst (BA) position and other M365 Government of Alberta (GoA) developers and business analysts to understand requirements, design effective solutions, and implement custom applications tailored to meet the short and long-term needs of the AEMA. 
  • Involved in designing, building, testing, training, deploying, and supporting Power Apps solutions to streamline business processes, enhance productivity through administrative reductions, and drive digital transformation initiatives across the organization. 
  • Developing and delivering high-quality Microsoft Power Apps solutions that meet the specified requirements and enhance AEMA processes meeting the organization's needs and driving positive outcomes.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues in Power Apps solutions promptly to ensure minimal disruption to AEMA business operations.
  • Working with developers, business analysts, and end-users to gather requirements, design solutions, and iterate on Power Apps development projects.
  • Staying updated on the latest features and best practices in Microsoft Power Platform to enhance development efficiency and solution effectiveness.

Qualifications

Required:

  • University education in a related field (Software Engineering, Information Technology or Computer Science) no experience required; or equivalent as described below.


Equivalency: 

Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.


The successful candidate must also have:

  • Experience with Power Apps Development
  • Knowledge and Understanding of business processes and workflows 
  • Superior knowledge and understanding of the MS Power Platform including Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI
  • Experience building Canvas apps and model driven apps 


Assets: 

  • MS Power Platform Fundamentals (PL-900) certification


Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate they have worked with organizations that use Power Apps for business process automation.
