Job Overview: The Logistics Supervisor is tasked with ensuring that the receiving and distribution of goods are done efficiently and accurately. This position is responsible for overseeing the Shipping & Receiving Clerks, providing orientation for new team members and appropriate job-related training and guidance. Additionally, the S&R Supervisor is accountable for ensuring that all functions related to Shipping and Receiving is done in accordance with company policies and procedures. Competitive Benefits, along with work, life balance What you will get to do: Provide workplace orientation training for permanent and/or temporary workers (includes, but is not limited to basic health & safety awareness and workspace specific training, GMP’s, etc.) Monitor the performance and efficiency of workers, provide coaching and training where necessary Maintain regular communications with the Logistics Manager and issue performance improvement plans when necessary Prepare Bill of Lading (BOL), invoices and other documents required for shipping goods Affix information and instructions on shipment crates and/or pallets Pick orders for delivery, verifying that proper product and quantities are chosen; ensure packaging is complete for on-time deliveries Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations; efficiently stack and store the product in the appropriate areas Efficiently move product from storage areas onto trucks, ensuring that shipments are accurate and free of damage Efficiently move product from storage areas to and from the production lines ensuring accurate inventory transactions Ensure proper stock rotation to minimize waste; participate in physical inventories and maintain appropriate records to ensure proper stock rotation Report any quality concerns or issues immediately to the Quality Assurance Department Health & Safety: Ensure that employees work in compliance with health and safety-related legislation and company’s health and safety program Provide an example for others by always directing and performing work in a safe manner; Follow company’s health and safety policy and procedures Provide to employee’s instructions on safe work procedures (verbal and written) Ensure employees are provided with and use required safety equipment and personal protective equipment Conduct regular inspections (planned and unplanned) to identify unsafe, hazardous practices and conditions and ensure prompt corrective action Advise employees of the existence of any potential or actual danger to their health and safety Report all incidents, injuries, illnesses, and near misses and complete thorough investigations to identify corrective actions. Advise management on how to prevent similar incidents in the future. Support the site health and safety committee through ensuring health and safety committee members are provided time and resources to complete their required duties (monthly meetings and inspections) Hold regular safety meetings with employees to review safety conditions and health and safety policies Ensure that new and temporary employees receive detailed safety instructions before they start work Recipe for success: High School Diploma, or equivalent 1-3 years of relevant experience in Supervisory role Experience with WMS and RF Scanning (Navision is an asset) Forklift Operator Certification Effective stress management skills Ability to work without direct supervision Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy Working knowledge of health & safety requirements Deadline oriented with an ability to work with a sense of urgency A few extra ingredients: Strong communication and employee engagement skills is a must Planning, prioritization, and execution skills. Must have strong computer (MS Office) and project management skills
