Job Description

Retain strong vendor relationships with current freight (road-air-ocean) carriers, Transportation Management Service Providers and 3PL (3rd party logistics) warehouse locations. Liaise and negotiate with subsidiary freight carriers and 3PL warehouse locations. Closely monitor freight costs. Review and approve all freight invoices prior to payment. Monitor (vendor review process) performance of all freight carriers and 3PL operations. Manage/maintain the Primex Shipping and Full Truckload Rate guide procedures. Key liaison when monitoring Primex’s participation through the secure website portal. Resolve any arising freight, delivery and or invoicing problems or complaints. Work with Customer Support in planning and consolidating shipments using the most cost-effective mode/service. Assist all warehouses in shipping-related queries. Freight quoting for internal and external customers. Meet with freight and 3PL vendors to review account information, negotiate new rates and contracts, and address issues pertaining to the account. Work collaboratively with related departments – Customer Support, Sales, Warehousing, and Marketing – to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of orders. Technical Knowledge ~ 3 years of experience in supply chain and logistics is a strong asset. ~ Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential, and knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required. ~ Experience with ERP and transportation management systems is an asset. Continuously update knowledge and skills for successful job performance. Participate in training programs. A college diploma or university degree in business, supply chain, and/or transportation administration preferred. ASCM/APICS or similar certification is a strong asset.
