We operate three food and pharmacy stores (including one with a fashion and hardware department), thirty-one Angry Otter liquor stores, two feed mills, two bulk petroleum facilities, the Angry Otter Tap & Forno and Brewery in North Vancouver, the Highwayman Pub in Abbotsford, the Highwayman pub in South Surrey and twenty-five gas station/convenience stores. What you’ll do:
Reporting to theArea Manager, the Liquor Store Manager leads the day- to-day operations to provide quality products and services in our store.They are responsible for providing strategic direction, leading, coaching, training, motivating, and inspiring our Team Members with the goal of providing a superior guest service experience. This leader will bring a positive approach; show initiative and drive results; is someone who can build and maintain positive relationships with our guests, team members and vendors, while ensuring that the administrative requirements of the role are fully maintained at the highest standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for duties such as but are not limited to the following:

  • Overseeing of the daily operation and management of the liquor store in accordance with company policies,procedures,and overall expectations
  • Provide ongoing written and verbal feedback to theAreaManager
  • Provide direction and leadership toward building a positive, highly motivated team
  • Ensure the store’s merchandising standards are being managed and maintained and all programs are being implemented,measured,and managed
  • Ensure the store’s housekeeping, sanitation and maintenance schedules/standards are managed and being maintained
  • Directly responsible to ensure the store adheres to BCLDB operating guidelines and all government regulations in labeling, pricing, sanitation, and food safety
  • Attend and actively participate in commodity,leadership,and safety meetings
  • Directly responsible for team member relations, including hiring, training and development and performance management
  • Provide leadership in the areas of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S)
  • Contribute to the Team in living the Corporate Values ofIntegrity, Community and Excellence
  • To perform other duties as assigned

Who you are:
You are looking for a career in Retail Operations as well as:

  • 3-5 years experience in progressive retail management positions with a proven successful track record
  • Liquor, retail and/or guest service background preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,and the ability to manage computer files efficiently
  • Solid basic math skills and ability to read and understand financial reports
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership and communications skills
  • Self-starter with motivationand ability to work in a busy environment
  • Effective planning,organization,and time management skills
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain relationships both internally and externally to support the organization
  • Enjoy working with the publicand strive to provide a consistent and superior guest service experience
  • Must have open availability and be able to work a variety of shifts, 7 days a week including early mornings,afternoons, late evenings, weekdays, weekends, and stat holidays
  • Valid Serving it Right Certificate required
  • This position is based at the CapilanoLiquor Store, though it may require on some occasions to travel and work at other locations as business needs arise
