About This Role

The Life Kids Director is directly responsible for leading the Children’s Ministry at Life Church by sourcing and implementing curriculum for the spiritual formation of children and equipping parents to lead their children spiritually. With energetic leadership abilities, the Life Kids Director executes current ministry programs/events and comes up with creative ideas for continuing to engage children. The Life Kids Director also provides oversight for the Sunday Life Kids program and all Life Kids staff and volunteers.

Primary Responsibilities and Tasks of the Life Kids Director

  1. Oversee all Life Kids classes
    • Arrange and rearrange class groups as needed to meet current needs
    • Manage and prepare curriculum, providing volunteers with the lesson plan each week
    • Manage and prepare supplies for Sunday mornings
    • Teach where needed
    • Manage Life Kids database (Planning Center)
    • Communicate with parents: i.e. greet new families, email updates, follow-up with children who have not attended in a while
    • Manage an annual Life Kids budget and create budget proposals based on previous spending
    • Maintain a Life Kids Policy and Procedures Manual, updating as needed
  1. Work with a volunteer team by delegating, covering and releasing leaders
    • Recruit, schedule and manage volunteers for all Life Kids programs and events
    • Ensure that volunteer criminal record checks are up to date
    • Support and encourage the volunteers
    • Gather volunteers for regular Life Kids ministry meetings
  1. Be the Sunday morning point person
    • Arrive by 9:00 to unlock and set up classrooms, set up check-in desk and banners etc. (some of these tasks could be delegated to a team volunteer)
    • Attend pre-service prayer and encourage volunteers to attend
    • Make sure all teachers have arrived and all classes are covered
    • Make sure kids (and their parents) know where the classes are
    • Tear down and clean up the above areas and items after church and lock classrooms
  1. Provide Life Kids contributions at Life Church events
    • Christmas
    • Easter
    • Life Kids Sunday
    • Kids Summer Camp/VBS
  1. Possible Life Kids Extensions
    • Build Facebook and/or other social media presence

Skills and Experience

  • Previous 2 years of ministry experience and or experience working with children a benefit
  • Ability to supervise, lead and shepherd volunteers
  • Strong servant leadership and people development skills and experience
  • Strong ability to independently problem solve
  • Experience maintaining existing systems and ministries as well as developing/growing new ones.
  • Financial skills in managing budgets and projects
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office, email and social media

Your Team

This position reports to the Lead Pastor.

This position currently oversees over 10 volunteers

The Life Kids Director participates in monthly, quarterly, and annual team meetings as a part of the leadership team.

Your Schedule

This is a part-time, hourly position that covers 12 hours a week. 8 hours are midweek, and 4 hours cover a Sunday shift.
