Liability Claims Adjuster - 9472 - IW-9472Date of modification:Job number: IW-9472DetailJob title: Liability Claims Adjuster - 9472DescriptionThis position is responsible for investigating, negotiating and settling serious CGL and bodily injury claims. The adjuster will be responsible for direct file handling and communication with all involved parties.Title: Claims Adjuster, CGL and BILocation: Mississauga (hybrid, 1 day per week in the office)ResponsibilitiesConfirm valid coverageFully investigate liability lossesFully investigate serious injuries & exposureProvide instruction and direction to internal and external vendors i.e.: Adjusters, Legal Counsel, EngineersCalculate ultimate probable exposure and reserve accordinglyMaintain a proactive diary system to monitor filesEnsure files are up to date with reserve worksheet, case law, medical and liability informationMentor and coach junior adjustersPrepare Major Loss/Reinsurance Reports and participate in Claims Committee processComply with service standards as outlined in Best PracticesActively participate in settlement initiatives along with both private and mandatory mediationsNecessary Knowledge, Skills And AttributesKnowledge of regulatory and contractual obligations, medical terminology, vocational rehabilitation concepts and dispute resolution practiceExperience with internal and external auditsDetail oriented and well-organized individualStrong oral and written communication skillsTravel to mediations/pre-trials/trials is requiredSuperb interpersonal skills and leadership qualities/potentialWork well individually or as a part of a teamComputer literacy with strong working knowledge of Microsoft programsEducation And ExperienceMinimum 3-5 years of experience adjusting CGL & BI claimsPost secondary educationCGL experience must include a strong background in coverage (duty to defend vs. indemnify), product liability, occupier’s liability, and environmental lossesExperience in Municipality losses and construction wrap up an assetCIP designation or working towards oneDGA Careers has been proudly serving the Canadian insurance industry for over 30 years, specializing in providing insurance recruiting services to major insurers, insurance brokerage firms and independent adjusting firms.
