Job Description

Job Description

One of our prototypes is exploring a mashup of metroidvania / platformer based games with some other genres to create a unique PvP experience. You'd be working closely with our design, product, and art team to build a map that delights the player in it's traversal, exploration, and puzzles that accentuate the elements of the overall game.

This is a 6 month contract to start, with a transition to fulltime to follow if we commit to making this game & based on your performance. We'd love to just do fulltime to start, but if we don't end up making this game we don't want to put anyone in the position of having a feeling of stability only to have that ripped away.

Qualifications

Mandatory Experience:

  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine
  • 2+ years of game or level design in a team setting
  • Experience building platforming games OR a deep love and understanding of what makes for a great platformer
  • A portfolio of work (professional and personal) demonstrating your skills
  • A passion for competitive games

Company Description

Odyssey is a Canadian Game studio founded around the idea of making games that ignite the competitive spirit that lives within everyone, by blending concepts of games that people would necessarily think belong together. We take pride in creative novel experiences that don't have a true comparison, and look for people who share that hunger and passion for doing something truly different to try to change the industry.

We’re creating our own IP, building games in genres that don’t even really exist yet, and figuring out what it means to build games for the generation of gamers coming after us, hopefully impacting them the way that games did when we were them. We don’t really know what those games will look like, but that’s why the challenge is so exciting. It's hard, and we put a lot of ourselves into our work, and if that sounds like something that appeals to you - we'd love to hear from you!
