Adecco, in partnership with our client, a distinguished boutique law firm located north of Toronto, is seeking an experienced Legal Counsellor to join their team on a fractional (part-time) basis. Specializing in insurance law, real estate, corporate, and civil litigation, this firm offers a professional and supportive environment. In this role you will support a senior partner with over 35 years of experience in corporate law, ensuring high-quality legal service and compliance across various legal matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Corporate Legal Affairs: Provide expert advice on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and business law. Ensure all corporate activities align with legal standards.

  • Contractual Agreements: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to franchising, purchase and sale, employees, contractors, and other business agreements, safeguarding the firm’s interests.

  • Legal Research and Compliance: Conduct thorough research and analysis of current laws impacting the firm. Provide strategic, actionable advice to ensure compliance in all business practices.

  • Solution-Oriented Legal Advice: Offer clear, concise, and practical legal advice to the senior partner and management. Present complex legal concepts in an understandable manner.

  • Support Senior Partner* Assist the senior partner in managing corporate law matters, leveraging their extensive experience to provide top-notch legal support.

Qualifications:

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Licensed to practice law.

  • Proven experience in corporate legal settings, with a strong background in corporate law, franchising, purchase and sale, and contracts.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a high degree of professional acumen.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple agreements and various legal matters efficiently and with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Strong research skills and a proven track record of providing proactive legal solutions.

  • Quick-thinking and adaptable to the fast-paced nature of a growing business.
