It is headquartered in Brownsville, Wisconsin, USA.DESCRIPTION Michels Canada seeks an additional Legal Counsel for our in-house legal advisory team. The legal counsel enables Michels to take on extraordinary projects and challenges daily and plays a pivotal role in researching, analyzing, and negotiating construction contracts, ensuring legal compliance and integrity with every decision. With a focus on collaboration, initiative, and integrity, this team ensures that Michels Canada continues to build vital infrastructure while upholding the highest legal standards. This position will be in our Canadian Head office in Nisku, AB.RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. Stop work in the area of an identified health or safety problem until resolved. Performs pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights. Advise Departments and Divisions as assigned in the department workflow document on legal issues and risks, complex agreement structures, approval processes, and company policies. Research and interpret various regulatory requirements and inform and update appropriate parties in other departments. Prepare and negotiate contract documentation with customers of the company, providing summary and concerns to senior legal team members for execution. Keeps abreast of legislative changes that may affect the company and its affiliates. Provides training to company and its affiliates on substantive legal topics. Develop CLE plan with oversight and input from the Chief Legal Officer. The plan should include participation in an offsite program annually. The position may also provide counsel to management within the company and coordinate with outside legal counsel. Exercise sound judgment while making decisive decisions, work independently, and uphold confidentiality standards. Other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS LLB or Juris Doctor from accredited law school. Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta. 5 years minimum of experience. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS Some experience in energy and infrastructure law.
