Job Description

We are looking for an experienced commercial litigation legal assistant to join the team of legal support professionals in the Montreal office of an internationally renowned firm.
Key Responsibilities
-Draft correspondence, prepare and review legal documents
-Finalize procedures for notification and filing in court if necessary
-Communicate and liaise with bailiffs and court representatives
-Ensure the follow-up of procedural deadlines
-Take part in activities related to the swearing-in, as required
-Manage deadlines, schedule meetings and appointments and maintain the lawyers' calendar
-Organize travel arrangements for lawyers
-Review and proofread documents to verify grammar, format, and compliance with legal requirements and the firm's visual identity
-Manage folders, documents, and files using multiple storage and archiving applications such as Closing Folders, Sharefile, Virtual Data Rooms, etc.
-Assist lawyers in projects related to business development and maintain the database of professional relations
-Process data (time entries, expenses) and open files
-Liaise with customers, colleagues, service departments as well as external parties
-Follow up on the billing of lawyers' files in tandem with the billing specialists
-Perform transcription of dictations, audio notes and recordings
-Take part in the successful integration of new recruits to the team
Qualifications
-Attestation of Collegial Studies (A.E.C) in legal secretarial work or Diploma of Collegial Studies (D.E.C.) in office automation; Diploma of Collegial Studies (D.E.C.) in paralegal technology, an asset
-A minimum of ten years of relevant experience, including in a professional services firm
-Knowledge of the conduct of proceedings in the Federal Court, Tax Court of Canada and Supreme Court of Canada, an asset
-In-depth knowledge of litigation procedures in Quebec, an asset
-Excellent oral and written communication skills, in French and English
-In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
-Team player, organizational skills and attention to detail
-Ability to demonstrate proactivity, motivation and an ability to anticipate needs
-Ability to manage priorities and work with tight deadlines
-Demonstrate discretion, critical thinking and judgment
