Lecturer/Assistant/Associate Professor-Academic Psychiatrist - Adult Neurodevelopmental Services

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and the Department of Psychiatry in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto are seeking an academic psychiatrist to provide care to adult patients with a dual diagnosis of a developmental disability and emotional, behavioural or psychiatric difficulties and/or Autism Spectrum disorder (ASD). The successful candidate will hold an academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer/Assistant/Associate Professor with a start date of September 1, 2024 or mutually agreed upon date. 

Duties include clinical evaluation and treatment of patients in a multidisciplinary team, teaching and supervision of medical students and psychiatry residents, and participation in research and other academic activities. Extensive prior experience with a dual diagnosis population and adult autism assessment is required.


CAMH is Canada’s premier addiction and mental health facility and a world leader in the diagnosis and care of patients with addiction and mental disorders, offering a wide spectrum of care, from treatment for first episode to care for the severely and persistently mentally ill. It is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, the largest and most prestigious research-intensive university in Canada. CAMH, together with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, has a strong tradition in the integration of clinical, teaching and research activities.


Applicants must possess a MD Degree, be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry and for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Candidates should also be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. English language proficiency is required. This is a full-time permanent role and remuneration is in accordance with the compensation of a psychiatrist in the province of Ontario.
