Lecturer / Assistant / Associate / Full Professor - Academic Outpatient Geriatric Psychiatrist

The Department of Psychiatry, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Department of Psychiatry of the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre are seeking to recruit an Academic Outpatient Geriatric Psychiatrist. The successful candidate will qualify for an academic position as a Clinician-Teacher, Researcher, Clinician-Educator or Clinician in Quality Improvement and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. Effective start date is July 02, 2024 or as determined in discussions with the candidate.

The Sunnybrook Department of Psychiatry is a collegial team of over 50 psychiatrists working with allied staff in a 36 bed Schedule 1 facility, including eight Youth beds (ages 14-18), 22 Adult/Geriatric beds and 6 Psychiatric ICU beds (by November 2024 a new unit will be open with an increased capacity of 47 beds, including 10 youth beds (ages 14-18), 9 PICU beds and 28 ward adult beds).

The successful candidate will provide outpatient geriatric psychiatry services alongside a multi-disciplinary team with opportunities to provide community outreach, support interprofessional geriatric medicine clinics, and support research in mental disorders and mental health of aging.

The successful applicant must hold an MD degree, must be Royal College/Board Certified or Royal College/Board Eligible in Psychiatry and must be eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. It is preferred that the successful candidate be eligible for a FRCPC in Geriatric Psychiatry or equivalent. The candidate should have a track record of excellence in teaching given the frequent presence of learners on the team. 

Compensation will be based on a fee-for-service structure with additional funding through Academic and Educational Trust Funds and/or Departmentally sanctioned administrative roles.
