This will include experience in deal execution, managing inventory positions, assessing commercial opportunities, developing economic plans, and finding alternatives for improved netbacks and more efficient logistics. The ideal candidate will be well rounded and confident to meet with external companies, write and interpret marketing contracts, possess general business acumen and steer economic development analysis.Key Activities and Responsibilities: • Lead the execution for trading the physical positions of crude oil through development and assessment of new opportunities in the market • Oversee the monthly inventory positions and execute financial trading strategies with the financial trader to manage IPL risk and credit exposures• Lead the development of new commercial strategies through understanding third party assets and the impact of current and future market dynamics • Effectively work with legal, operations, logistics, accounting, and cross functional commercial development teams • Provide input and support for M&A activity including trading strategies to optimize the assets and integration with IPL assets commercially • Evaluate and develop new commercial strategies around our current operations to add value, which include risk identification and mitigation strategies • Understand and be able to create complex modelling for marketing netbacks and project economic analysis • Identify and develop strong relationships internally and externally with key counterparties and stakeholders to achieve overall strategic objectives• Continually monitor market changes and the activities of peers and competitors, with the ability to communicate to management any material impacts to the overall strategic objectivesEducation, Skills and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field • 8+ years of professional experience in the Crude Marketing/Trading space • In depth knowledge of the crude oil industry, including producing and refining economics, North American crude oil infrastructure, and a deep knowledge of market pricing for physical barrels • Knowledge of crude oil operations as it pertains to pipelines and the ability to identify areas for optimization and generate economic models to support a decision – considered an asset • Exceptional modelling capabilities in Excel, along with proficiency in the rest of the MS Office suite of products • Strong ability to build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders • A self-starter with the ability to identify and initiate projects, prioritize competing deadlines, and excellent organizational skills • Well-developed negotiating capabilities to drive successful outcomes • Ability to think strategically and solve complex problems, along with the ability to model out various scenarios • Power BI experience is an asset Hours:Monday to Friday, 40 hours per weekAs this position is identified as security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of pre-employment criminal background check assessments with satisfactory results.While diversity is a fact, inclusion is the act of recognizing the value of our differences and leveraging them for the betterment of our organization.
