We're Looking for...

A highly skilled and motivated Quality Assurance leader to own the strategy and execution of our automated and manual testing processes. This is an inaugural role for a team transitioning to scale-up phase. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance within a SaaS environment and a passion for driving quality improvements across the entire software development lifecycle.

The engineering team at Lillio is made up of full stack web engineers as well as multi-platform mobile experts. Every individual on the engineering team has the opportunity to make a big impact on growing the Lillio product offering with a wide and varied feature set, as well as impacting how Lillio builds and delivers that product. From feature enhancements to the core product, ground-up engineering on brand-new architecture, data scaling, and system performance on Android, iOS and web-based applications, our team does it ALL.

Your Manager

Lillio’s VP, Engineering is focused on building a product and team that is agile, scalable, transparent, and aligned with the needs of our early education end-users. A remote-first leader, he strives for over communication, agreement in prioritization, and efficient execution so that we provide a top-tier experience for our current customers, while anticipating the needs of those to come.

How You'll Make an Impact:

Leadership & Strategy:

- Develop and implement a comprehensive QA strategy aligned with business goals.

- Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement and collaboration.

- Establish quality metrics and KPIs to monitor and improve the QA process.

- Initially, as our sole quality engineer, guide the engineering team in standard practices for automation test writing and implementation.

Testing Ownership:

- Oversee all aspects of quality assurance including establishing metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met.

- Own and enhance automated testing frameworks, ensuring scalability and maintainability.

- Manage manual testing processes, ensuring thorough coverage and accurate reporting of software defects.

- Manage relationships with contractors and consultants as needed.

Collaboration and Communication:

- Collaborate closely with development, product management, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.

- Advocate for quality throughout the software development lifecycle, promoting best practices and a user-centric approach.

Communicate testing results, quality metrics, and project status to stakeholders and senior management.

Continuous Improvement:

- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in QA methodologies, tools, and technologies.

- Identify and implement opportunities for process automation to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

What You Bring to the Table:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or comparable work experience and training.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in both automated and manual testing within a SaaS environment, in web and mobile.
  • Demonstrated understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Proficiency with automated testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Ruby rspec, Selenium, Jest, JMeter).
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Nice to Haves:
  • Experience with performance and security testing.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Ruby, and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience team building, and managing contract talent.
Compensation Range:
  • The compensation range for this role is between $100,000 - $120,000 CAD per year; evaluation of the offer for the successful candidate will be based on relevant experience
  • This role would be eligible to participate in the Employee Stock Option Plan
