Job Description

The Lead for Assembly Operations will work out of our 3PL distribution center and will be the liaison between ASSA ABLOY and our 3PL. They will be responsible for coordination of special custom orders at the 3PL Distribution Center and will provide regular updates to the Distribution Supervisor on the progress of workload and performance. They will model the ASSA ABLOY values and behaviors to achieve service excellence, meet and exceed organizational objectives and support fiscal responsibility.Primary Duties and Responsibilities1. Produce keys for locks as per specifications in special customer orders (20%)a. Cut keys for locks as per customer specificationsb. Operate, maintain & ensure proper care of key cutting equipment2. Process, assemble and repack as per specifications in customer orders (20%)a. Reconfigure locks mechanism in accordance with technical specificationsb. Re-pack/kitting of spectrum products as per special orders3. Assemble Products on Retail Display fixtures (POD’s) as per sales request (15%)4. Coordination of co-packing (15%)a. Schedules and coordinate flow of work with onsite co-packer to assist in obtaining quotes and manage flow of materials in & out of co-packer.b. Coordinate and communicate with operations, marketing & Sales leaders to ensure requirements are metc. Maintains inventory of materials and parts as required.5. Rework & Inspection of products to meet business/quality compliance requirement. (10%)a. Be the first contact on site to liaise with DC and raise any quality issues to spectrum organizationb. Be the onsite coordinator for any business driven customization/rework of products in stockc. Conduct visual inspections, measurements & action reworks as directed.d. Manage flow of parts & or products to action rework of productse. Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs and summarizing re-work and waste.6. Supervision of temp labor for special custom orders (10%)a. Coordinate through Human Resources temporary laborb. Lead temporary employees in the execution of tasks. c. Provide assistance in identifying, evaluating, and resolving temporary employee work performance problems working closely with Sr. Logistics Manager and Human Resources.d. Motivate and coach temporary employees to maintain high levels of satisfaction, productivity and quality.7. Manage orders, movement & reconciliation of inventories for special custom orders (10%)8. Ensures safe workplace & work practicesa. Achieve compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations made under the Act (i.e. Regulations for Industrial Establishments/851, and WHMIS/860, and Control of Exposure to Chemical and Biological Agents/833).b. Participate in workplace inspections conducted by the JHSC and Supervision as defined in company procedure9. Other duties as may be assignedDimensionsThis position can supervisor up to 8 temporary employees on an ad hoc basis.Education and Experiencea) College diploma in a technical faculty.b) 3-5 years’ experience with light hand mechanical assembly or repair.c) 3 years’ experience at a Team Lead level in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
