Role Mandate: The Labour Management Specialist supports RCSS, RASS, and DOM banners in Ontario and Atlantic regions. They will partner with and assist Regional Vice Presidents, District Managers, Store Managers, and colleagues. The Labour Specialist will play a critical role in the formation of store level labour plans and work closely with Operations leaders to assist in the attainment of these plans. The Labour Specialist has a passion for the business, solid operational experience and a desire to make a material difference by building accountability, driving results, and helping colleagues develop their skills, all to enable our stores to provide an exceptional customer experience. They will remain flexible to support business needs and are willing to adapt to changing priorities. They will achieve this by modeling our Loblaw Blue culture and Shared Values and Behaviors. Accountabilities:
  • Support RVP, District Managers and Store Managers
  • Launch and embed labour planning tools and best-in-class labour productivity standards into banner operations
  • Assist in the launch and ongoing adherence of process & efficiency initiatives in stores
  • Participate in meetings and conference calls with RVP/DM to call out risks to banner and district performance on Labour
  • Counsel the operations team and store teams in achieving financial targets
  • Analyze store and department metrics to provide actionable insights for operations leads
  • Determine best practices and limitations facing individual stores (store uniqueness)
  • Through audit and coaching ensure company policies are followed
  • Provide forecasting guidance, analytics and postmortem labour results
  • Provide guidance about the impact of divisional programs, timing shifts and external factors on labour cost
  • Support execution of process maps and completion of time studies
  • Audit the current labour model through in store testing
  • Communicates regularly to reinforce standards, create consistent execution of programs, share best practices and introduce new concepts
  • Can mine data and provide reports on financial and customer KPIs
  • Takes part in projects to support continuous improvement and innovation through collaboration with various across the organization
Role Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of retail operations experience & understanding of store scheduling requirements
  • Experience with IT systems (SAP, STAS/Persona or similar WFM systems)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large datasets to create actionable insights
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Power Point
  • Understanding of store-level P&L drivers (eg. sales impacts on labour hours)
  • Ability to self-manage; prioritize store visits and project work with a high degree of personal organization and effective time management
  • Excellent problem-solving, coaching, communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to influence
  • Strong presentation & communication skills
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Ability to travel and valid drivers license
