Job Description

One of our major clients in the oil and gas industry is seeking a Lab Technician to work within their facilities in Joffre, AB, on a 10-month contract. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the Ethylene, Polyethylene, and Utility processes by focusing on performing routine and non-routine analyses on water (Wastewater, Sewage & Cooling Towers) and potential for various hydrocarbons (Liquid LPG and vapor) samples. You Will Use Your Expertise To:Adhere to the company standards and principles.Perform chemical analysis of process and compliance samples using instrumentation and focusing on ISO 17025 accredited testing.Participate in instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.Engage in investigations of method quality and failures.Perform data collection for various lab related studies.Maintain conformance to the ISO 17025 standard to meet the requirements of CALA accreditation.Generate and analyze statistical data to maintain quality control of existing equipment and testing procedures.Participate in internal and external quality and safety audits. What We Are Looking For:Chemical technology diploma or equivalentAnalytical chemistry laboratory experienceA strong safety and environmental attitude to support site Responsible CareĀ® Principles and regulatory requirementsFamiliar with the requirements of ISO 17025Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft ExcelKnowledgeable in chromatography software and lab information management systems (LIMS)Mechanically inclined, with an aptitude for instrument maintenance and troubleshootingEffective interpersonal, communication and time management skillsSelf-motivated and results-oriented, capable of working autonomously or collaborativelyEffective task prioritizationAbility to adapt to new situations/challenges and embrace change and new ideas
