Job Description

Position: Laboratory Technician


CES Energy Solutions is a dynamic and growing North American oilfield services company listed on the TSX as CEU with revenue of over $2 billion. It is one of the largest providers of production chemicals and drilling fluid systems and is focused on being the leading provider of technically advanced chemical solutions throughout the life cycle of the oilfield.


PureChem Services, the production chemical division of CES Energy Solutions, is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and organized individual to fill the position of Laboratory Technician. This full-time, diverse position is located in Grande Prairie, Alberta and has many detail-oriented duties to challenge the right candidate. This position reports directly to the Laboratory Manager.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Intake and preparation of field samples for various analyses.
  • Bench testing of field samples.
  • Analytical testing with equipment to include GC-FID / IC / Karl Fischer/ AA / Auto-Titrator / etc.
  • Concise reporting of results as well as managing the database where results are stored.
  • Development of new lab processes and troubleshooting of existing procedures.
  • Technical support for our Process product range.
  • Making and testing batches of new and existing products.
  • Research and development of new products.
  • Field testing and support.
  • Research and development of new products.
  • Field testing and support.
  • Other duties as required.


Necessary qualifications:

  • Post-secondary technical training in a science-related field.
  • Relevant industry or related experience may be considered in place of formal training.


Required skillset:

  • Confidence and capability in operating assorted analytical equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to commission laboratory equipment as well as develop and troubleshoot test methods.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, both for internal and client correspondence.
  • High degree of computer literacy and ability to quickly master new types of computer software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong statistical analytical skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt.
